THE COMMUNITY VOICE
John Kerry’s Treason
I have heard nothing from the mainstream news media, radio, tv, and of course, the usual left-wing press about what I personally believe is John Kerry’s latest treasonous caper. Only the New York Post reported negatively on Kerry’s wanton violation of the Logan Act; his unauthorized negotiations with the Ayatollahs of Iran, a country that sponsors terrorists and wishes to destroy America.
In 1970, Kerry was a very vocal anti-war Veteran activist. I do believe he was still a US Navy Reserve Officer when he appeared at the Paris Peace talks. He openly met with communist North Vietnamese envoys to denounce America. He called US G.I.’s war criminals! American POW’s were being held in brutal, inhumane conditions beaten and tortured. If still a reserve officer, why was he not subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice? Or was he? For decades, I and many other Veterans have been curious if Kerry does or does not have an honorable discharge.
In 1968, I was a 19-year-old US Marine in Vietnam. During the infamous Tet Offensive Battle to retake Hue City, 2500 US Marines were up against 11,000 well-trained and equipped soldiers of the North Vietnamese Army and an unknown number of Viet Cong regiments. On February 6, 1968, in the midst of battle and under intense enemy fire, I, Frank Thomas, and Alan McDonald struck the enemy colors flying in the courtyard of the Capital building and raised the Stars and Stripes. This report and photos were carried by every news media in the free world. On February 11, I was seriously wounded and medevacked from the combat zone. By February 14, after 12 days in Hue, not even a single Marine in my platoon was still standing. On May 3, 1968, I received a near fatal wound. I know the cruel brutality of war and what it means to serve my country and preserve our way of life.
In 1985, Kerry and another freshman US Senator, Tom Harkin of Iowa, whom I personally consider equally loathsome, went to Nicaragua. They met with Marxist dictator Daniel Ortega and returned with a shameful cease fire agreement which was a slap in the face to all Americans.
As Obama’s Secretary of State, Kerry made serious attempts to sign over our nation’s sovereignty to the United Nations!
It seems to me that no matter how vile and despicable the words and deeds of Democrats appear, with un-American rhetoric, they get a free pass from the media. Time to open your eyes and ears America!
An American Patriot,

The Emperor’s New Clothes
I am sure that if you are over the age of 40 you are familiar with Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” If you haven’t read it, please do. It is an allegory that can apply to many of our political leaders of all political parties.
When I first read the original “Open Letter to Perth Amboy Residents” I was alarmed, appalled and disgusted by what Mayor Wilda Diaz was alleging Mr. William Petrick had done. I was stunned. I do not personally know Mr. Petrick. However, I had contact with him as well as his father at their family business on several occasions through the years. Mr. William Petrick and his father were always professional, courteous and gentlemanly. What was the “behavior?” “What did he do? Much like a passerby of a highway crash, I did not want to see it but, I had to look. So, I searched around for the attachment as directed by Mayor Wilda Diaz’s letter. I was afraid it was pornographic, or rife with obscenities and vulgarities about women. I thought there would be derogatory terms referring to individuals in vile racial epitaphs.
Instead, what I found were three pretty lame, sophomoric, posts not created by Mr. Petrick, but by others. There was no vulgarity, no obscenities, no racial epitaphs, nothing that could rise to the level of what the open letter described. I did not feel that what I saw violated or disparaged me as a woman nor as an American of Puerto Rican descent. Nor did I feel that it disparaged my American grandchildren or any of my American family members of Jamaican, Dominican, Asian, Irish, Greek, Scottish, German, Swiss or Lebanese descent. If Mayor Diaz found it inappropriate, a simple private conversation with Mr. Petrick asking him to remove it would have sufficed. Hysteria need not ensue. Unfortunately, it did.
I found it difficult to believe that Mayor Wilda Diaz, who I voted for twice, could besmirch not only Mr. Petrick but also his family, friends, and supporters (because Mr.Petrick does not live in a vacuum) in such a way. Why? For what? Political gain? Ambition? These types of political tactics are what disgusts me about politics. I’m sure I’m not alone.
Then, this week I read that Mayor Diaz had summoned, out of towners and political activists to come into town to further “alarm” the citizens of this town with insane talk of KKK, racists, riots, unrests, and misogynists lurking around every corner. Then, there was some disjointed talk by a Latina woman’s empowerment group leader that left me confused as to how this empowers me as a Latina. It went something like.. We actively oppose Donald Trump.. my organization is bipartisan but, I’m proud to be a Democrat but, more about Donald Trump being bad then I’m a Progressive Democrat(=Socialist), then, right-wing Republicans are blaming women and immigrants for problems in this country, and therefore “Bill Petrick has to be held responsible and he should resign.”
What? Wow! Six degrees of Kevin Bacon! What’s next, accusing Mr. Petrick of being a Republican and photoshopping pictures of him with President Trump? The sad thing is I’ve seen this before. For no apparent reason, 2 years ago Mayor Wilda Diaz marched down the streets of Perth Amboy with several dozen people claiming that no one was going to chase the illegal immigrants in Perth Amboy out of town (when no one had said they would) and she declared Perth Amboy a sanctuary city causing fear and hysteria amongst illegal aliens and their relatives who believed ICE would now find them..
Many years ago those of us who were lucky to be born and raised in Perth Amboy would fall asleep lulled by the billowing curtains on our childhood bedrooms’ open window on a hot summer night. We felt safe. We were safe. We had neighbors (of every ethnicity and race) who cared for us and we for them. They watched us grow. We had each other’s backs. Today, we live in a transient community where we are unsure of who our neighbors are. We are regularly cautioned in The Amboy Guardian with Mayor Wilda Diaz’s Safety Announcement to ” Be Vigilant-STAY ALERT! “
Family members, longtime neighbors, and friends are leaving Perth Amboy. The steady decline in the quality of life, the increase in criminal activity, a downtown overrun by urine smelling indigents aggressively panhandling are a threat to our safety. MS-13 sliced up and murdered a young person in our town. A terrorist lived amongst us and plotted a successful terror attack while receiving bomb-making materials in our city and also attempted murder on cops in Linden. There is much more. This is what I find repulsive and disgusting. This administration doesn’t want to see or speak of it. Instead, it’s hey…., look over there! There goes a Republican! The good citizens of Perth Amboy are not fools.
Perth Amboy has been predominantly Hispanic for over 40 years. The Democrat vote has always been above an 80% margin for decades. Perth Amboy is in no danger of being taken over by white male Republicans.
I read Mr. Helmin Caba’s letter. I have never met him, do not know who he is. In “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” Mr. Caba is the youngster who points to the Emperor and says,” Look, the Emperor has no clothes on!” Indeed. With God as your witness, you need no polygraph. The truth sets us all free. Amen. Mr. Caba, keep speaking truth to power. Be a Hero.
Mirian Montalvo,
Perth Amboy Citizen
