COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT AND HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS
CITY OF PERTH AMBOY
The City of Perth Amboy is initiating planning for the 2019 Annual Action Plan as part of its application for funding to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City expects to receive $610,466.00 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $371,657.00 in HOME funding. Funds may be used to assist persons with low to moderate-incomes, remove slums and blight, or address urgent needs.
The first public hearing is set to be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. The second meeting will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. at the Perth Amboy City Hall, Council Chambers, 260 High Street, Perth Amboy, NJ. Citizens are invited to provide written or verbal comments at or prior to the hearing. Information will be made available to citizens regarding application procedures, timing, eligible activities, and other regulations related to the CDBG and HOME Programs. The housing and community development priorities of the City, as contained in the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan, will be reviewed and the public is encouraged to comment. Additionally, the City will be requesting citizen feedback through a survey that will be made available at these meetings and on the City’s website.
The draft 2019 Annual Action Plan will be prepared following the close of the application period and committee review. This document will be available for public review in the Office of Economic and Community Development for 30 days starting Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in order to meet the timing and submission requirements established by HUD. The City will hold a second set of public hearings on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. and Monday, March 25, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. to receive comments on the proposed Plan prior to finalizing this document.

Starting Monday, January 7, 2019, applications and CDBG guidelines for FY 2019 CDBG and HOME funds will be available on the City’s website www.ci.perthamboy.nj.us or through Maritza C. Rodriguez, Business Manager, Office of Economic and Community Development, at City Hall, 260 High Street, Perth Amboy, NJ. All proposals will be due by 5:00 P.M. on Monday, February 4, 2019.
