Cathedral International, NAACP and Community

Commemorates Dr. King and what would have been his 90th Birthday

Press Release

Dr. King

PERTH AMBOY – Cathedral International, NAACP Perth Amboy Area Chapter and the area community is coming together to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the 9:30am worship service, 277 Madison Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ. Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr., now in his 35th year serving as Senior Pastor, is the speaker.  “Since Dr. King’s Day has been in existence, it has been an honor to convene a service where all generations and ethnicities come together to pay respect to the living philosophy of this great man,” stated Bishop Hilliard.

New officers of the NAACP Perth Amboy Area Chapter will be installed during the service where Rev. Dr. Danielle Brown, Pastor of Church Life, Cathedral International will administer the installation. “Dr. King knew the value of people working together for the good of all of humanity. He spoke of an ‘inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.’ Essentially, none of us are really okay, unless all of us are okay. This is the cry of my Savior’s heart and a fundamental truth for Dr. King.  Today, as we remember Dr. King’s life and legacy, with the NAACP, and community leaders, we embody the principle of beloved community; through partnership, teamwork and collaborations in the never-ending fight against injustice,” stated Dr. Brown.

NAACP’s new officers are Rev Donna Stewart, President; Anana Phifer-Derilhomme, First Vice President; Renee Evelyn, Secretary; Brenda Hutchins, Treasurer, and Rev Mary Giles, Assistant Treasurer

“The central theme in Dr. King’s last book prior to his assignation was hope. The book title ‘Where do we go from here?’ and the theme are both resounding today as they were 50 years ago. I personally invite everyone to come Sunday, January 20th when we will celebrate Dr. King’s life, philosophy and his hope.” Bishop Hilliard, Jr.

Everyone is invited to attend this service. More information is available at www.cathedralinternational.org
