South Amboy 1/30/19 Council Meeting

SOUTH AMBOY – The Council passed R-39-2019 thru R-45-2019 on the Consent Agenda and Ordinance 1-2019 – An Ordinance to exceed the Municipal Budget Appropriation Limits and to Establish A Cap Bank (N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.14)
During the Council Comments, Vice-President Christine Noble had no comments.
Councilwoman Zusette Dato reminded everyone that there will be a fundraiser for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade – the Grand Marshal’s Night at the Ancient Order of the Hibernians on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 7 p.m. The 2019 Grand Marshal is Christine Noble, Deputy Grand Marshal is Michael Toth; Honorary Grand Marshal is Mark Rasimowicz.
Councilman Thomas Reilly spoke briefly about the Affordable Housing Trust. He stated he spoke with three people that were in support of the Manhattan Beach Project and that when the City receives money, it relieves (the cost of) development. Reilly also stated that there is a huge need for volunteers in the First Aide Squad and Fire Department. “Ask anybody to help our town. We wave some permit fees if you volunteer to help the town.”
Business Administrator Glenn Skarzynski stated he had a productive meeting with a grant writer. “Today we engaged in a grant for sustainable energy. We will save approximately $8000 per year in electrical cost.”
Council President Mickey Gross welcomed new Law Director Francis Womack. He then stated, “With the cold weather it wouldn’t hurt to knock on a Senior’s door (to check up on them).” Gross then congratulated recent graduates of the Police Academy.
Mayor Fred Henry commented on the Hole in the Wall. “I want to thank the Freeholders, especially Freeholder Director Ron Rios. We are now in the first phase of what’s going on over here. We’ll make announcements as dates (become available).”
Councilman Brian McLaughlin was not present at the meeting. The next regular Council Meeting will be on February 20, 2019.
