PERTH AMBOY – Margaret Morales has been an educator for over 26 years: Vice-Principal, Principal, Supervisor, College Adjunct, and Assistant Superintendent. When Dr. Nestor Collazo retired in June 2018, The AUL Charter School had a change in district leadership. Morales started as Lead School Administrator as of January 1, 2019.

A Yale University Graduate, she was encouraged by her sister who was already a teacher to pursue a career in education. As an alternate route teacher, she learned very quickly. She went back to school and earned two M.A.’s from Kean University: one in Instruction and Curriculum, and one in Educational Administration. She also earned a E.D.S. – an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. She is certified in Bilingual/Bicultural Education.

As the new Lead School Administrator, Morales wishes to focus on excellence in education. She has worked in both public and private schools.

The AUL Charter School recently went through their five-year renewal in Perth Amboy in November 2018. Morales is working closely with the leadership in AUL. Morales states that the curriculum at AUL is very rigorous and that the school adheres to State Curriculum Standards.
