SOUTH AMBOY —Sixteen King’s College students, including South Amboy resident Tina Fumo, and one faculty member will travel to Greece as part of a three-week intensive study-abroad experience titled, “Philosophy as a Way of Life: The Sacred Spaces of Greece.”

The program allows students to explore ancient sites, religious rituals, theatrical performances, and traditional mythology presented in the writings of Plato and Aristotle. The group will tour sites such as the National Archeological Museum; the Temples of Zeus, Apollo, and Athena; and several ancient cities including Mycenae and Olympia, the site of the Olympic Games in classical times.

The course was designed for students to understand the elements of philosophy practiced in everyday life and how these elements are woven into the religious, ethnic, linguistic, and social understandings of diverse cultures. Students will earn credits that satisfy a philosophy core requirement at King’s.

Dr. James Ambury, assistant professor of philosophy, is the program director. Renata Evan, coordinator of short-term faculty-led study abroad programs, assisted in developing the program.

The College offers a variety of faculty-led study abroad experiences as part of its commitment to global learning and student development.
