Perth Amboy Police Report Arrest

PERTH AMBOY – On May 13, 2019 at 10:59 PM, police received a 9-1-1 call of a robbery in progress in front of a Rector St. home, in Perth Amboy, NJ. 

Upon police officers’ arrival they met with a fast food delivery man, who reported that he was delivering an order to the Rector St. home, and no one answered the door.  As he was walking back to his car, he was approached by a dark-skinned male who demanded money from him.  The suspect was holding an object in his hand, and abruptly walked away when the delivery man told him he had no money. 

Police located a male in the area that fit the description provided by the victim. During the investigation, the suspect then fled the officers. A loaded handgun was located in the area and the suspect was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

After the victim had positively identified the suspect as the male that attempted to rob him, officers arrested Tyjier Summers, 23, of Old Bridge.  Summers was charged with attempted robbery and weapons offenses, and also had other unrelated active warrants for his arrest. He is currently lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility in North Brunswick.  Det. Luis Corro of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Investigative Division is handling the case, and anyone with information about this incident or any other similar incidents is asked to call the Detective at 732-324-3828.
