Perth Amboy and South Amboy Present Amazing Pyrotechnics Show on July 3

SOUTH AMBOY/PERTH AMBOY – The cities of Perth Amboy and South Amboy are presenting their annual fireworks spectacular over Raritan Bay on Wednesday, July 3. The fireworks display is presented free of charge and all costs are covered by generous, private donations. The incredible pyrotechnics will begin about 9:30 p.m. and the rain date is Friday, July 5.
Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz said, “Donations from our sponsors are very important, especially as we begin the final countdown to the fireworks extravaganza. We want to remind our local companies that there is still time to contribute to our wonderful celebration which recognizes America’s freedom, liberty, welcoming traditions and patriotic spirit. We invite each of our residents and their guests as well as visitors to enjoy the city’s family-friendly activities in our parks and along Sadowski Park. As night falls, everyone is going to marvel at the fireworks, which will brighten the sky and create a joyous celebration of our country’s Independence.”
Individuals and families may also contribute funds to the not-for-profit Celebrate Our Stars & Stripes Committee, which manages the countless details that go into presenting the fireworks. South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry said, “Most of the brave and courageous signers of the Declaration of Independence paid a very high price for their historic actions. We honor the signers’ gift to all of us on Independence Day.”
The Celebrate Committee Chairman Barry Rosengarten said, “Organizing the fun events, food trucks, children’s rides, games and logistics for the fireworks requires a huge amount of work. We are grateful to the city departments that help make the day a success. Even with all of those helping hands, we still need more assistance. You are encouraged to volunteer your time to assist our Event Coordinator Yolanda Flores and assist our fundraising by making a contribution to fireworks today!”
Perth Amboy is adding a new feature to its pre-fireworks events, which will begin about 6 p.m. The city has arranged for an amusement company to provide rides for children as well as inflatable bouncy houses and more. There will be a nominal cost to use the rides. All the activities will occur along Sadowski Parkway, which will be vehicle free roadway.
Food vendors and trucks will also be onsite. The food crews are going to offer ice cream, tacos and burgers, many snacks and much more. Independence Day souvenirs including mini American flags as well as red, white and blue items will be available to purchase as well.

The viewing location in South Amboy are within walking distance of the train station.
South Amboy residents and guests may picnic, play games and relax in parks along the Raritan Bay Waterfront County Park, courtesy of the city Recreation Department. Residents and guests will enjoy food, refreshments, games and much more, including kiddie rides and a performance by Al Chez and the Brothers of Funk.
Parking inside the county park will be limited to those with valid handicap plates. Alcohol is prohibited in the park. Those planning to attend are asked not to bring pets.
The free, pre-fireworks activities begin at 4 p.m. in South Amboy.
Perth Amboy, South Amboy and the Celebrate Committee have teamed up with Magic 98.3 (WMGQ-FM) and WCTC-AM (1450). Each city will place a sound system in its viewing area. During the afternoon and evening, a local DJ from each community will fill the air with fun music.
As the fireworks begin, WMGQ-FM and WCTC-AM will start playing marching music, classic Americana songs, and patriotic tunes over the sound systems and their airwaves. The music will be “synced” with the fireworks to accentuate the sights and sounds of the pyrotechnics brightening Raritan Bay.
Over 60,000 Amboy residents, families and friends are expected to view the extravagant pyrotechnics display presented by world-renowned Garden State Fireworks. The show, which can be seen and heard all around Raritan Bay, reminds everyone that the very course of history can be changed when free, brave people unite to achieve a special cause.
