Letters to the Editor: THE COMMUNITY VOICE

How Gun

Prohibition Kills

In 1968, a time of turmoil, Congress passed a Gun Control Act. There were 15,000 violent firearms deaths then. This number escalated to 30,000 firearm deaths after 25 years! It rose to 40,000 deaths a few years ago, then dropped after some states began to liberalize their gun laws. Beware of “sounds good” proposals that have contrary effects!

This shows the true motives of Gun Prohibitionists who want to oppress people and their rights, not to save lives. Don’t let ‘Big Brother’ control your thinking, research the facts for yourself.

Blue Trails

of Sorrow

In response from the letter to the Editor in the Amboy Guardian July 3, 2019 issue, (The Quality of Life in Perth Amboy by Maritza Hernandez). First of all, thank you for writing this letter. I stand by you 100% and what you are saying is true. Many other city residents are facing the same problem over the years. It’s nothing new. Perth Amboy has changed over the years. It became a free for all from drugs to dirty streets, and most of all – overcrowded schools. The only time our elected officials come knocking on your door is when they know you made a nice political contribution and the problem is solved for you. That’s how it works. These politicians we voted for could care less if you move out of town. It’s a crying shame you lived here for 40 years and have to deal with this issue. The best thing you can do is go to a city council meeting and embarrass those elected officials.

Orlando “Wildman” Perez.
