Sardines in the School System
Here it comes! Another school year for the Perth Amboy School System. YES! Pack them in like sardines! Those traffic jams! Those poor teachers having nervous break downs before class even starts. Still waiting for the new high school to be built. Yes, the schools are overcrowded, but you have to understand lots of babies are made in Perth Amboy, and how many come from other towns? And those Illegal housing are a part of it (2 family homes with 30 people in it)! I was told Perth Amboy will be a bedroom city and they were right. I guess it’s something we have to live with. That’s what those School Board Members will tell you. So, keep packing them in like sardines.

Dear Chief McKean:
No one deserves to live in hell because of unruly neighbors who disrespect everyone and deliberately subject them to behavior that defies the ordinances people in Perth Amboy are supposed to uphold. Their constant and repeated disregard leads one to the assumption that they have been given immunity and are excused for their behavior even though it is disruptive to others. Police are summoned for the disorderly conduct that occurs during the daytime and well into the night or early morning hours. Yet there is no sign of it stopping because no fines are given, and the complaints are made without any resolution causing one to wonder if the appearance of police is merely a pretense. Why only a few are compelled to comply to laws and ordinances while others live by modified rules remains a mystery.
People are made to endure the impossible from the tremendous stress they face in what is supposed to be the comfort of their own homes. They are kept up all night and cannot keep windows open but nothing is ever done to protect those in need from those who are· arrogant and defiant.
Perth Amboy has taken many steps back after showing signs of growth and prosperity until now when there are no signs of it recovering from its losses. We used to have curfews but that has disappeared along with everything else that should be a priority. People are outdoors, on their front porches drinking to excess, playing loud music and raising voices well into the night. They continue to park on sidewalks, yet no tickets are issued. Cars are double parked on the streets while police drive by and go around them without telling the driver to move. It doesn’t make sense that someone has to call and report a violation that can be seen and heard by police who should act accordingly.
Unfortunately, Perth Amboy has given an inch that has become a mile to many who abuse every privilege given them and the rest of us are made to suffer the consequences of illicit behavior that goes unpunished. People are fearful of retribution and rightfully so especially after being called vile names for no reason, publicly humiliated by guilt ridden individuals whose only recourse is to frighten.
Hopefully having you at the helm will ·redirect the goals of Perth Amboy and its administrators for a better life even though that seems impossible in this present state.

Dear Mayor Diaz:
Nothing good can and will come out of police response to the loud, boisterous, unruly, drunken behavior that is repeatedly reported by neighbors who suffer the consequences of individuals who seem to rea1ize that o no stern sanctions will be imposed on them. Shaking a finger at them has led to nothing more than far worse behavior of elevated proportion and spiteful conduct against innocent bystanders of 11 ethnicities except that of the people involved in committing repeated violations. Vile and snide comments against neighbors is becoming rampant and the verbal harassment contagious. Concerns that this will become more physical has instilled fear into many. Having others see this behavior escalate will empower them into falsely accusing and chastising those who are not deserving of such actions. Loud and public verbal assassination by the very people who are the basis of the problems as evidenced by the many complaints that have been made throughout Perth Amboy should not be ignored as have the many complaints brought to the attention of Administrators, Police and Council members who have done little or nothing to rectify the situations far too many of us face on a daily basis. At some point the city of Perth Amboy has to be held accountable for the dangers many of us face through retaliation from frightening and unsavory characters who seem to be sheltered from legal action.
Perth Amboy has lost its heart and soul and has become a haven of disarray causing its reputation to decline and deteriorate through the weakness of its administrators. The foundation has crumbled with no assurance of restructure in the short term by individuals running the city nor those who are apparently running them. Residents of Perth Amboy have a voice that is not being hear. It is ignored and silenced by far too many who have no liberties to do so. It has become more and more apparent that the rumors of bias involving a particular group of individuals holds true. A group of people who have inundated the city, many of whom are illegal immigrants living in overcrowded and cramped conditions while knowingly committing violations of all kinds without remorse or fear of any legal action taken against them. Sanctuary does not mean free of all obligations. Nor does it mean transparent to the point of being non-existent in the eye of the law. They remain isolated among their peers who afford additional protection while allowing disruptive behavior. The city benefits little to nothing from illegal citizens who cannot tribute anything publicly because of’ their status yet earn unlimited respect while those who surrender themselves to the demands the city places on them are regarded as secondary and their requests betterment ignored.
What has to happen before Perth Amboy wakes up? Hopefully it won’t be at the expense of the innocent suffering undue consequences- through costly neglect by those who have the power to protect the voters who relied on them to do that very thing.
The prior administration contributed a great deal to Perth Amboy and was determined to raise it above the indignities that plagued it for far too long. Because of a mistake that dream was only partially fulfilled, and Perth Amboy once again has slipped into the depths of degradation because of an inadequate administration and its policies. We need the strength and foresight that will provide growth in a town that once was held in high esteem before its possibilities and acclaimed beauty were extinguished.
You must take our pleas seriously before things get totally out of hand. Far too much is at stake. And responding to someone who states a complaint by saying that it’s a big city and we have to expect things is not acceptable. Comments like that lack strength and reinforce our beliefs that Perth Amboy’s leaders show little concern for our welfare even though they claim otherwise by asking us to bring issues to their attention. Why? What will we get in return? More empty promises and superficial responses while the travesty continues, and the problems worsen.
