Gun Regulation
A recent letter called for “strict firearms laws” to save lives, and quoted CDC statistics. Were neighboring states like Pennsylvania, Vermont, and New Hampshire omitted to stack the results? Since all states have democratic governments why do they have different laws? Is there something that can’t be mentioned? Rural areas have less crime than densely populated cities. Firearms are used for pest control and hunting.
In 1968, a time of turmoil, Congress passed a Gun Control Act. There were 15,000 violent firearms deaths that year (8,000 suicides, 7,000 murders). After 25 years this number escalated to 30,000 deaths. No lives were saved by this strict firearms law! If a law has unintended consequences shouldn’t it be abolished or changed?
I recommend doing your own research and not believing in unverified claims from Gun Prohibitionists. Statistics for an entire state distorts the figures for a particular area.

The Perth Amboy Way
As we all know by now, the old Naval Training Center on Front Street was torn down for something new. But what? Well, there’s talk going around town there might be condos going up on that property. This is just talk, but it wouldn’t surprise us. Yes, build baby! Build! Pack them in and bring in those new voters: “Waterfront Property”. Yes, buy them now and then turn them over to “Affordable Housing (Sec-8)”. It’s the Perth Amboy way.
