WOODBRIDGE – Monday November 25, 2019 at 7p.m., Fellowship Hall, First Presbyterian Church, Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge
David Emerson of History on the Hoof will give a dramatic performance of Stephen Hopkins, the navigator of the Mayflower who traveled with his family to Plymouth. Massachusetts. Stephen Hopkins was no Saint (as the Separatist founders of Plimouth colony referred to their congregation- the Church of Saints) but his previous experience in the New World made him a respected member of the New England settlers popularly known as the Pilgrims. During the performance, you will learn about the politics, religion, economics, Native American relations and social life of the first permanent New England settlement from the unique perspective of Stephen Hopkins.
David Emerson is a partner in History on the Hoof, a company that specializes in unique presentations on themes in American history. An independent storyteller, Mr. Emerson makes his living by being a character-teaching history through the eyes of a person of the past. He also is a speaker with the New Jersey Council for the Humanities’ Horizons Speakers Bureau.
Presented by the Historical Society of Woodbridge.
