Plan is for First Responders and Essential Personnel
City of Perth Amboy ProvidesSite for JRMC COVID-19 Testing
Press Release
PERTH AMBOY, New Jersey (April 25, 2020) – Furthering its commitment to provide greater access to COVID-19 testing and medical resources to all residents, the Jewish Renaissance Medical Center, JRMC, a federally qualified health center, is expanding the test to first responders and essential personnel with drive through testing locations. With the support of city officials and offices of emergency management, the drive through testing is part of the JRMC’s COVID-19 Action Plan in response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases. The locations are determined and planned ahead to be able to test up to 400 per testing drive through.
The testing locations are determined in partnership with city officials to test first responders and essential personnel. Each testing is set up with the pre-registration of first responders and essential personnel. A JRMC medical practitioner contacts patients with their results and telemedicine following the test. The cities included in the first drive through testing are Carteret, Perth Amboy, and South Amboy. Yesterday’s testing took place at the Perth Amboy Harborside Marina’s parking lot located on 260 Front Street. It was set up for all Perth Amboy first responders and essential personnel with the collaboration of Mayor Wilda Diaz, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Perth Amboy Police Department.
“The JRMCs remains committed to meet the needs of testing during this pandemic,” said John T. O’Leary. “We’re continuing to do everything we can, both with our own resources and also by with city officials and health industry partners, to serve as a local access point for COVID-19 testing. Opening our first drive-through testing last week has allowed us to quickly learn and develop an efficient and scalable process. We are pleased to be working with the City of Perth Amboy and LabCorp to help accelerate our efforts, and enable quick results for those being tested.”
“I’m grateful to the staff and leadership at JRMC for their unwavering commitment to our community,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz. “The new testing site is critical to the operation of our city as essential workers continue to provide services to our residents despite the risks. The City of Perth Amboy will continue to work with JRMC through this public health emergency to further identify additional sites so we can meet the demand for testing in Perth Amboy.”
The JRMC with city officials will identify the locations and dates for the drive through tests that are outside of JRMC’s main building located on 275 Hobart Street. The JRMC will oversee the administration of the COVID-19 testing. All first responders or essential personnel in need of a COVID-19 test email the JRMC at ctest@jrmc.us or call us at (732) 376-6632.
The JRMC will confirm the date, time, and location for the drive through locations directly with patients. The JRMC continues to administer COVID-19 testing at 275 Hobart Street. Anyone who exhibits symptoms or who has been in contact with someone who tested positive should contact JRMC to determine if a test is necessary.
