Press Release
SOUTH AMBOY — March Madness, anyone? We may not be playing basketball at the library this month, but we do have a fun, crazy schedule planned! There is a little bit of fun for everyone, from Birthday celebrations to new programs. Grab your calendar because you won’t want to miss a thing!
The Dowdell Library is turning 107 years old! Drop in and grab your free (individually wrapped) birthday cake from March 15-19 (while supplies last)! We are also celebrating Read Across America on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Listen to Ms. Maryanne virtually read a special birthday book on our YouTube channel. Stop in between March 1-5 to grab a free Dr. Seuss birthday surprise take-home bag (ages 0-10)!
March 19 is Makers Day. Makers day is all about encouraging creativity and exploration using your imagination. We are holding a gumdrop engineering challenge from March 1 until March 18. Stop in and grab a take-home kit and try to create a structure strong enough to support a large textbook. Bring your creation back to the library before the 18th, and we will test its strength! One lucky winner will receive a Microscope Kit (ages 8+)! Feel like getting even more creative at home? Tune into Sadie’s Studio with Ms. Laura on YouTube. She will be demonstrating how to make a real Lava Lamp!
Is the luck of the Irish with you? Adults (18+) can stop by the library and enter our Luck of the Irish Trivia Contest during the entire month of March. One lucky person will win a gift card to Shop Rite where you can purchase all your St. Patrick’s Day essentials. The contest runs from March 1- 15.
The 2021 Tax season is here! The Sadie Pope Dowdell Library is pleased to support financial stability in our community. Free, contactless, tax return assistance is available to people earning less than $64,000/year. A Dropbox is stationed inside the building.
