PERTH AMBOY, N.J. – Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center recently held a Celebration of Life event honoring the beloved Thomas G. Shanahan, president, chief hospital executive, Raritan Bay Medical Center who passed away earlier this month. Tom spent 20 years at both Raritan Bay Medical Center and was a devoted leader and patient advocate who served the community.
“Tom Shanahan was an incredible man, dedicated to Raritan Bay and his family,’’ said Robert C. Garrett, chief executive officer, Hackensack Meridian Health. “During his tenure, Raritan Bay Medical Center received a variety of honors, including Magnet recognition for nursing excellence four consecutive times and expanded services, including Raritan Bay Old Bridge’s Emergency Department. Tom’s legacy will benefit the community for generations.’’
As part of the Celebration of Life event, the boardroom at Raritan Bay Medical Center Perth Amboy has been renamed after Tom in his memory. Numerous team members and community leaders were in attendance to celebrate his life.
