Tails & Tales
SOUTH AMBOY – Summer is here, and so are the Summer Programs at the Dowdell Library! Tails & Tales officially kicks off on July 1. There are programs and activities for all ages.
Read Squared is back this year! Read Squared is a website where you can efficiently track and log your reading. You can find all the details about how to make your account on our website.
Each month we will feature two animal themes. July opens with Bookish Beasts for the first two weeks, and then Under the Sea is Home for Me for the final two. At the beginning of August, we will focus on Endangered Animals and then wrap up the month by taking a walk on the Wild Side. Each week we will have new programs for all age groups!
Children can visit the library and enjoy weekly crafts and activities every Monday and Friday from 2:00-3:00 pm. Stop by the library every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 – 3:30 for drop-in activities. These activities are self-guided and will include writing prompts, puzzles, chalk, bubbles, and more!
We are also hosting Celebrity Storytime at the Waterfront Gazebo! Zusette Dato will be the celebrity guest on June 22 (rain date June 29), Glenn Skarzynski will host the Storytime on July 13 (rain date July 20), and Suzanne Ryan will join us on August 10 (rain date August 17). This fun event will run from 11-12:30 pm. There will games, music, crafts, and PRIZES! Please bring a beach towel to sit on under the gazebo.
Adults and teens can keep busy all summer with fun activities too! There will be trivia contests, crafts, and smoothie tastings. Participate in Family Tales, where you can discover your genealogy and create your family tree using Heritage Quest.
Have you ever dreamed of owning a sailboat? If so, you won’t want to miss the Sail Away on Raritan Bay program. The video will be available on YouTube and will feature Captain Elaine!
Prizes and giveaways will happen all summer long for all ages!
Details and information about each program will be posted at Dowdell.org, and shared on the library’s social media pages. You can also sign up for the monthly newsletter on the library’s website and have all the program information sent directly to your email!
