On June 9th I attended a Victorian Tea held at the Knights of Columbus in Perth Amboy. It was sponsored by the Perth Amboy Police Chaplain Core, the Abundant Life Worship Center and In His Image Women’s Ministry. This Tea was to benefit the Domestic Violence Team. Some of the women in attendance were dressed in Victorian Outfits and there was a lovely inspirational Praise Dance performed by Pastor Allie Perez from In His Image Women’s Ministry.
Two of the speakers were Carl Graham of the Perth Amboy DVRT and Dorothy Daniel of the Perth Amboy Police Chaplain Core who gave a powerful speech.

Dorothy Daniel
Ms. Daniel spoke about how men are also victims of domestic violence. There are also cases of same sex couples where one partner may verbally or physically attack the other.
What struck me the most about Ms. Daniel’s speech is when she spoke about women attacking each other, be it physically, mentally or in some cases when they are competing for the affection of the same man.
Ms. Daniel said that women should be more supportive of each other. In some cultures young girls are taught that they need to have a boyfriend before they are in their teens.
It was a wonderful experience being in the company of these women, young girls, men and young boys who were there to support the cause and bring awareness to the different aspects of domestic violence and ways to correct the situation.
