COMMUNITY VOICE: Senior Housing Still Vital

I am writing in reference to the article written about the Delaney Homes Project because it was really hitting home regarding the need for the proposed Senior Building.

I applied for a 1-bedroom apartment at Parkview Senior Housing on March 30, 2011. I recently requested my current status on the Senior and Disabled waiting list for a 1 bedroom apartment and was told by Christine DeAmorim, Property Manager of the City of Perth Amboy, my status is #168, clearly confirms the need for more Senior Housing in Perth Amboy.

Considering the city is overpopulated and the housing collapse has been especially painful for older homeowners that lost homes to foreclosure. I can relate to that because I lost my home to foreclosure on May 8, 2013 after 22 years of Homeownership.

Elected officials opposed to building more decent affordable housing units especially for vulnerable groups, like the seniors and disabled demonstrate how out of touch they are with the electorate. I prefer to retire and live in the city I was born and raised in at the Dunlap and Delaney Home Projects, became a taxpaying homeowner and worked for the city of Perth Amboy Office of Housing and helped many people get decent affordable housing now I need help and the doors closed. Could it be a corrupt politician calling the shots in the dark.
