PERTH AMBOY – Our first major event to raise money for women with breast cancer to assist in their recovery and holistic healing services will be on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Seabras Armory in Perth Amboy, dinner, entertainment, & fashion show by Sense of Style Boutique ; dancing is included.

Special guest speakers, the honorable Mayor Wilda Diaz and the Founders of Mary’s Place by the Sea will be in attendance. All proceeds are being donated to Mary’s Place By The Sea in Ocean Grove NJ Founded by Michele Gannon and Maria Mckeon, a nonprofit 501 (3) organization that assists women of New Jersey and their families cope with treatment and recovery, offering various services to help a woman with cancer go through the process, all the services are provided by the donations raised.

Imagine waking up one day finding a lump in your breast, and then the diagnosis was confirmed with a mammogram and biopsy. Can you imagine how that must make one feel, to be told at the age of 38 that you have the word, cancer? Women of many ages are diagnosed with breast cancer everyday; thankfully with all the advances of healthcare there are treatments available. The process is overwhelming for many, even with family support.

In my case, I needed help processing the diagnosis and treatment. With the help of my dear friend, through her connections in healthcare as a Registered Nurse, we were able to navigate my initial process quickly, additionally with support of family, friends and coworkers, I was able to complete the course of chemotherapy, radiation, physical, emotional and spiritual healing. As a survivor my internal strength was empowered by those around me.

Unfortunately not many women do not have that support available to them; some women have gone without treatment, without medication, without emotional support, struggling to survive. As a survivor, from the first year of diagnosis and treatment, despite going through my own physical and emotional journey, I have made it my mission to help those in need. I have held many events to raise money for breast cancer for those that lack the resources, helping many; organizing groups of people all volunteering their time to help this cause affecting millions of women.
