PERTH AMBOY & SOUTH AMBOY – The skies will again light up on Thursday, July 3, 2014. The towns of Perth and South Amboy will once again partner for a joint celebration of our nation’s birthday.
Superstorm Sandy of 2012 knocked out any hopes of a fireworks celebration in 2013. The storm brought major damage to the Waterfronts of both cities. In Perth Amboy many businesses and homes in the Waterfront area were severely damaged. Some of these businesses included: the Armory, the Barge, Bayside Creamery and Slavko’s Harborside Walk.
During the 2012 joint fireworks celebration, some of the above businesses held celebrations specifically related to the fireworks.
Except for Slavko’s Harborside Walk, (We’re hoping to see him back) all of those businesses are back in operation and we expect them to be a part of the 2014 fireworks comeback.
There will be more information forthcoming in The Amboy Guardian about how the community can take part of this exciting celebration.
