COMMUNITY VOICE: Smart Shoveling

I first used this technique in the winter of 1960-1961 when the snow was wet and sticky, and from 4” to 6” deep. Dry fluffy snow doesn’t need this technique. Use the end of the shovel to cut through the snow on the sides and front of the area you will shovel. Then shovel in the usual manner. This reduces the effort needed in shoveling snow.
