Port Authority Police Hispanic Society Donates $5,200 To The Boys & Girls Clubs of Perth Amboy

PERTH AMBOY – The youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Perth Amboy are fortunate to receive $5,200 in funds, donated by the Port Authority Police Hispanic Society. The award will permit 25 students to participate in Kaplan SAT Prep courses free of charge, a program that would otherwise cost parents over $700. The comprehensive courses at Kaplan are designed to thoroughly provide the tactics to guarantee better scores on the SAT.

The PAPHS is a coalition of officers dedicated to enhance of the lives and opportunities of their fellow community members who fall at an economic disadvantage. Just as their motto “Unidos, venceremos” (United, we will win) stands strong to fight communal adversity in the Hispanic community, so does the PAPHS in collaboration with other organizations to promote cultural diversity among the Hispanic people from inner cities in the NJ and NY areas. Boys & Girls Clubs of Perth Amboy is committed to providing at-risk youth with support and real-world experience that will motivate them to stay in school, graduate and pursue brighter futures. The program helps invoke positive outcomes for academic success; it is intended to enable and inspire teens to graduate high school and reach their full potential.

Chief Professional Officer, Tashilee Vazquez, shares that “Because of this substantial award from the Port Authority Police Hispanic Society, we the staff and can continue to support our teens in their pursuit of academic success. Juan Cancel, PAPHS President adds, “These children are often not afforded the same opportunities as other families in higher economic levels. It is a great thing to give them an opportunity and the tools they need to totally change their future.”
