Artist Tom Ward restores the statue.

PERTH AMBOY – Local Artist Thomas Ward is restoring the Statue of “Our Lady of Providence” at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perth Amboy. Age and Devotion had worn away much of the original paint exposing the wooden blocks, probably walnut, of which the statue is carved.

“This is the work of a master carver, the details are awesome,” said Ward.

Our Lady of Fatima is blessed with a number of artistic treasures. The next statue to be restored is that of St. Martin.

Women of the parish help prepare the statue for restoration.
