PERTH AMBOY – The community of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 41-47 Wisteria Street, Perth Amboy, invites the public to its annual Greek Festival by the Bay, May 30, May 31 and June 1 (rain or shine)
Hours: Friday, May 30: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Lunch Special offers a free pastry with purchase of an entrée), Saturday, May 31: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday, June 1: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Donation: $2 per Adult, Children under 18 are Free. Parking: Ample, on-site and off-street free parking.
This three-day event offers traditional Greek delicacies, Greek and American Music and Greek folk dancing by the “Church’s Greek Youth Dance Group” (Friday 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM, Saturday 6:00 PM & 9:00 PM; and Sunday 4:00 PM). Tours of our church will be announced throughout the day. A variety of vendors will be present, especially of Greek imports, as well as, “boardwalk” games, and activities for the kids and also, raffles for the adults. This event will assist the Church in raising funds for its community and cultural activities and parish ministries.
Live Greek Music will be performed Friday & Saturday evenings after 6:00 pm and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Our Greek Festival By the Bay will transport guests to Greece through traditional Greek music and folk dances, as well as Greek foods such as souvlaki and gyros, spanakopita (spinach pie), dolmades, (stuffed grape leaves), moussaka (baked eggplant); and delicious desserts such as baklava (walnut strudel), and loukoumades (honey puffs). All food and pastries are made fresh on the premises by Festival volunteers. Imported Greek beer and wine along with non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Visitors can either dine inside the air-conditioned community center or outside under the comfort of a large tent.
Guests have a chance to participate in a merchandise raffle as well as weekend long hourly 50/50 raffles. Vendor booths are available for $75.00 per day. A 6 foot table will be provided. Please call for reservations.
