Joshua’s Eagle Scout Leadership Project was to preserve the endangered plants of Cheesequake State Park, from deer predation. Joshua has a great interest in biology and biodiversity and when this project came across his eye, he took it on with pleasure. Joshua conducted a total of over 140 work hours, leading 20 adult and scout volunteers in erecting four welded wire enclosures, so that the plants enclosed: Spice Bush, Atlantic White Cedar, and the Winterberry Hollies, would have the opportunistic to grow healthy and fully without the hinderance of the overpopulation of deer at Cheesequake State Park. With the completion of his project, Cheesequake State Park did not incur any expenses but instead was enriched with the preservation of its biodiverse park.
