During the public portion of the June 9 Caucus Meeting, Mr. Reinaldo Aviles addressed the Council, and I paraphrase, “The Board of Adjustment has not been following procedure in that they have not been reporting directly to Historic Preservation Commission all their upcoming cases for the Commission to review.”
First of all, the Commission has been in existence for four years now and either Mr. Aviles was missing or asleep during the numerous times I’ve gone before the Commission, as well as the City Council, in person and in writing asking when the map of Perth Amboy’s historic sites and areas will be ready for review by the Planning Board and presented to the City Council for codification into a City Ordinance.
You see without this map and ordinance the Board of Adjustment has no legal justification to how some people, given a microphone and a chance to sound off, are completely infatuated with their own voice. I only wish some of them would take the time to check on the facts and not assume they are would take the time to check on the facts and not assume they are speaking for anyone, but themselves.
