SOUTH AMBOY – South Amboy Mayor Fred A. Henry released the following statement in response to Judge Currier’s ruling upholding his Democratic primary election victory as a candidate for South Amboy mayor.
“I am grateful for today’s decision by Judge Heidi Willis Currier that upheld the South Amboy Democratic primary results as certified by the Middlesex County Board of Elections. I look forward to representing the Democratic Party as its candidate for Mayor of South Amboy in this November’s election.”
“This fight has been a family battle among South Amboy Democrats. It has been difficult, but with today’s decision, it’s time for the family to, once again, come together on behalf of the people of South Amboy.”
“I want to recognize John O’Connell as my opponent in this election. While this election campaign highlighted our differences, I believe we share far more in common as South Amboy Democrats and I hope we can work for the betterment of the City of South Amboy.”
“I want to thank Michael Baker, my attorney, and his outstanding team of the Hoagland law firm for his support and advice during this difficult battle. His counsel and his wisdom were invaluable as we worked together to ensure the will of the people was reflected in today’s court decision.”
“I also would like to thank my wife, Linda, and my brother, Bill, and the rest of my family for their constant support.”
Finally, I want to thank the people of South Amboy. I am humbled by the support you have shown me and I look forward to the November election and to the honor of serving another term as your mayor.”
