A Postal Patron’s Lament

Remember going to the Perth Amboy Post Office

In the not so distant past

Go in and do your business

Without fear of being harassed

A woman selling drawings in the vestibule

Men peddling pastries outside

You cannot possibly avoid them

Even if you tried

And since this is federal property

It should be made abundantly clear

They should not be on the premises

Then I ask you, why are they there?
