LANXESS’ Perth Amboy site Receives Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Award

Perth Amboy: Governor’s Award for Continued Excellence for No Lost Time for Eighth Year

PITTSBURGH/CENTRAL NEW JERSEY – LANXESS’ Perth Amboy site was recently awarded its eighth New Jersey Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Award for its outstanding safety record. The program is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the New Jersey State Industrial Safety Committee.  Since its origin in 1927, the program has played a vital role in working safely in the state of New Jersey.

The Perth Amboy site makes products for the business unit Urethanes. These products have many applications, from roller skates to roller coasters.

“We attribute our safety successes to the incredible engagement of our plant team at all levels.  Our goal is to ensure we have an active safety community that is working toward preventing incidents” said site manager Pamela Dudish. The Perth Amboy plant gives individual attention to all of its employees, urging them to take pride in their own safety and for those around them – because one size does not fit all.

LANXESS is committed to our employees and our partners’ employees going home as healthy as they came to work. The aim is to systematically and sustainably increase occupational, plant and process safety, thereby protecting the environment and health worldwide.

Even through the ongoing integration as LANXESS, the employees at the Perth Amboy plant expertly continued their commitment towards safety in the workplace.  “Changing to a new company does create some challenges, but the safety element did not change. We all embrace the LANXESS safety culture,” commented Bob Castillo, Environment Health and Safety and Security Manager.

Award requirements as defined by the New Jersey State Industrial Safety Committee (www.njsisc.org): Citation of Merit, Division of Public Safety & Occupational Safety and Health, Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development. Governor’s Certificates are given to those without any work-related lost time from injury or illness over one year to four consecutive years, respectively.
