Puerto Rican Festival
PERTH AMBOY – Mayor Wilda Diaz will join the Comité Patriótico Cultural Puertorriqueño as they host the three-day Puerto Rican Festival taking place today, Friday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, June 9 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, June 10 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The festival will be held at Rudyk Park located at 500 Valley Pl. in Perth Amboy. Internationally known salsa legend Charlie Aponte and folk singer Victoria Sanabria, also known as “The Queen of Improvisation” are headliners. TV/Radio Host Jackie Guerrido will make a special guest appearance and music will be provided by: DJ Javi and DJ Melo Bass One. The event will also feature performances by local artists and Bomba y Plena dance performances. Attendees will enjoy a family friendly festival which will include children’s rides, games, and traditional Puerto Rican food. Univision New York, UniMás, and X 96.3 FM will participate in the festival for the first time in its more than 20 year history. The festival is dedicated to the town of San Sebastián in Puerto Rico.

Pops at the Park
SOUTH AMBOY – The Arts District of South Amboy is please to present an afternoon of orchestral pops music under the open sky at Raritan Bay Waterfront Park, 1 Keenan Way in South Amboy/Sayreville. Sunday, June 10, at 4 p.m. Free Admission.
Concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic supper and relax to the music from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Mozart classics, patriotic tunes and more performed by the Music at St. Mary’s Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Christopher Deibert.
In the event of rain, the concert will move indoors to the South Amboy High School Community Theater located at 200 Governor Harold G. Hoffman Plaza, South Amboy.

Iselin Branch Library 50th Anniversary Celebration
WOODBRIDGE – Join us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Iselin Branch of the Woodbridge Public Library on Tuesday June 19 at 1081 Green Street,Iselin, NJ 08830. The kick-off begins at 1pm with the JFK High School Marching Band, followed at 2pm with Mayor John McCormac cutting the ribbon and welcoming all to the newly renovated Iselin Branch Library. Ukrainian Cultural Festival
PERTH AMBOY – The 6th Annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival is set for Saturday, June 23, from 12 noon to 9 p.m. on the parish grounds of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church at 686 Alta Vista Pl, Perth Amboy, NJ. The festival will feature the dance shows of traditional Ukrainian dances at 2:00 and 4:00 pm, church tours, money and baskets raffles, vendors, a traditional Ukrainian food/beer and delicious desserts. Perth Amboy Free Public Library Offers Home-bound Delivery Service
PERTH AMBOY – If you can’t make it to the library, the library can come to you! The Home-Bound Program is a resource delivery service offered to all Perth Amboy residents who are temporarily or permanently confined to their homes because of illness, age or physical disability. Care facilities and nursing homes are also welcome to take advantage of this program. The service is absolutely free to join and use! Residents who do not currently have a library card will be issued one after successful sign-up of the home-bound application. To sign up for service call the library at 732-826-2600.

Proprietary House Open
PERTH AMBOY – The Proprietary House, the last official Royal Governor’s residence still standing in the original 13 colonies, is open every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., for tea and tours. Tea is served in our atmospheric candle-lit wine cellar, and includes our delicious homemade desserts and assorted teas. A $10 donation, $5 for children under 12, covers both the tea and a mansion.
Although the house is still in the process of being restored, some rooms have been newly decorated. Go back in time and learn about William Franklin and other residents of the house. It’s a perfect way to spend a pleasant afternoon. The gift shop is also open. Groups are welcome, although reservations are required for groups over six people. Historic Surveyor General’s Office
PERTH AMBOY – The Historic Surveyor General’s Office, which is adjacent to Perth Amboy City Hall, is now open for tours. At one time, this structure was the meeting place of the East Jersey Board of Proprietors & housed their records. Presently the Surveyor General’s Office is displaying artifacts from the John Watson (1685-1768) archaeological site along with other items from Perth Amboy’s rich history. Volunteer Drivers Needed For Meals on Wheels Program
HIGHLAND PARK – Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County (JFS) is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals to homebound senior adults in the Highland Park area for the Kosher Meals on Wheels Program. The program delivers meals Monday – Friday mornings. A commitment of at least 2 days per month for regular volunteers is required. Also seeking substitute drivers who can fill in as needed throughout Middlesex County. Must have valid driver’s license. SAYREVILLE – Feeling Lucky? Come enjoy a fun evening of coach bingo on Friday, February 9, 2018, for the second annual Middlesex County Association of Chiefs of Police coach bingo/tricky tray at St. Stanislaus School, 221 MacArthur Ave., Sayreville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $30 per person which includes 12 games of bingo (3 boards per game), coffee, tea, and dessert. There will also be a 50/50. Notice: Community Announcements or “Shorts”
The Amboy Guardian is committed to serving the community. However, due to the rising cost of print publication, we are forced to now charge a small fee for community announcements in our print version. We will provide one complimentary short paragraph or “short” per event. After your event “short” is published for one week, there will be a $5.00 fee per week charge for each additional “short” published pertaining  to that particular event. For those who pay for a display ad, there will be no fee for additional shorts pertaining to the event in the paid display ad. To our regular loyal advertisers who hold community events, your “short” announcements will remain complimentary. Effective 1/1/16. Thank you.
