PERTH AMBOY – The Perth Amboy Business Improvement District (BID) is helping local retailers boost traffic to their stores and increase sales during the holiday shopping season. The BID’s effort is part of the annual Small Business Saturday® celebration, which encourages everyone in the city toShop Small® by visiting and buying from local merchants from now through December.
The City of Perth Amboy, its BID and Mayor Wilda Diaz are presenting a special Shopping Local during the Holidays program and business networking event on Wednesday, November 14 beginning at 5:30 PM. Store owners and their selling teams are invited to La Terrazza Restaurant at 273 High Street in Perth Amboy. Admission is free and pre-registration is encouraged by calling the BID’s office at 732-442-6421. More details are also available on the BID’s Facebookpage.
Sales Coaching Specialist Rocky Romeo is the featured speaker, who believes that creating a unique shopping experience is essential for succeeding during the highly-competitive holiday buying season. “In my view,” Mr. Romeo said, “getting shoppers to visit your store is good, motivating customers to make a purchase is better and providing an incentive for them to return soon and buy again is best.”
During the evening, Mr. Romeo with outline the following methods to boost retail sales:
• focusing on creating a unique shopping experience for customers
• creatively displaying new products, and looking for ways to regularly enhance in-store merchandising
• taking responsibility for building traffic and sales through incentives, advertising, social media messaging and incredible customer service.
BID Chairman Barry Rosengarten said, “Our goal is to assist Perth Amboy’s merchants by inspiring our neighbors to shop local. We believe that supporting downtown businesses makes our city stronger, and that’s why we have been part of the Shop Small Movement for years.”
