Town Clock

Press Release

PERTH AMBOY – Did you know that the City of Perth Amboy has an official Town Clock? A new film documentary entitled “Perth Amboy’s Historic Town Clock” reveals all details on such.

Producer & historian John Dyke explains “In 1869 the Mayor, City Council and Aldermen purchased a large Town Clock. At that time the tallest structure in the community was the Simpson Methodist Church tower.    And there, at 85 feet above High Street, the four-sided clock was installed and maintained by the City. In fact, this year is the 150th Anniversary of our Historic Town Clock!”

Here, this documentary explores the interior & exterior of the tower, as well as the workings of the clock itself. Rare historic images are mixed with live footage resulting in an exciting adventure. So, if you’re interested in seeing an 1869 era Perth Amboy, tune into local Comcast Channel 34 and check out the schedule for this unique film.
