PERTH AMBOY – Historic St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy announces its 44th Annual Festival Lessons and Carols service Sunday December 15 at 10:30 AM. The service surrounds nine readings with twelve musical works sung by the choir and three congregational carols.
The program includes traditional seasonal music from England and Spain, as well as gospel and spiritual works, Mary had a Baby by Roland Carter, Sweet Little Jesus Boy by Roger Wagner, and Behold the Star by William Dawson.
John Rutter, Benjamin Britten and Lloyd Llewellyn are the English composers represented and Darlington Richards, Russell Schulz-Widmar, Richard Averre, Roger Hannay are the American composers represented. The choir will open the service with a great work by Spanish composer, Pablo Casals, Gloria from his Christmas oratorio El Pressebre.
Music Director, Doug Sheldon, announced that associate conductors, Jeffrey Smith and Patrick Murphy will also conduct in the service with organist, Rebecca Ehren, and soloists, Elizabeth Robbins, Jennifer Allen, Alexandra Sheldon, Jonathan Gonzalez, Robin Lee and Jeffrey Smith.
The service will be followed by a festive reception in the Parish House.
