NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) AND HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP (HOME) PROGRAMS 

FUNDING APPLICATIONS FOR FY 2020 

The City of Perth Amboy is initiating planning for the 2020 Annual Action Plan as part of its application for funding to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City expects to receive approximately $574,000.00 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $360,000.00 in HOME funding. Funds may be used to assist persons with low to moderate-incomes, remove slums and blight, or address urgent needs. 

Starting Monday, December 9, 2019, applications and guidelines for FY 2020 CDBG and HOME funds will be available on the City’s website www.ci.perthamboy.nj.us or through the Office of Economic and Community Development, at City Hall, 260 High Street, Perth Amboy, NJ. Be advised, all proposals will be due by 5:00 P.M. on Monday, February 3, 2020. 

A public hearing is set to be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 5:30 P.M. at the Council Chambers of Perth Amboy City Hall, 260 High Street, Perth Amboy, NJ. 08861.  Citizens are invited to provide written or verbal comments at or prior to the hearing. Information will be made available to citizens regarding application procedures, timing, eligible activities, and other regulations related to the CDBG and HOME Programs. The housing and community development priorities of the City, as contained in the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan, will be reviewed and the public is encouraged to comment. 

The draft 2020 Annual Action Plan will be prepared following the close of the application period and committee review. This document will be available for public review in the Office of Economic and Community Development for 30 days starting Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in order to receive comments on the proposed plan prior to finalizing the document and to meet the timing submission requirements established by HUD.
