Today Feb. 11, 2020, The Perth Amboy Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge 80 presented a donation of $500 to New Jersey for Puerto Rico Relief to support earthquake recovery on the island.
“Founded in 2017, New Jersey for Puerto Rico Relief (NJ4PR) is a Perth Amboy NJ Non-Profit Corporation 501c3 dedicated to supporting disaster recovery in Puerto Rico. NJ4PR’s philosophy is not to reinvent the wheel. We enter into Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to raise funds and support those organizations like the American Red Cross of Puerto Rico, Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, the Salvation Army of Puerto Rico and local churches that already have established logistic chains and human capital on the ground involved in disaster recovery to direct fund recovery activities. NJ4PR understands that this is the most efficient and cost-effective way to help the island; instead of collecting supplies locally in NJ, raising shipping funds and then transporting supplies to the island that may take weeks and months to reach the affected areas. Or as the news media has recently reported, never!”
