PERTH AMBOY – Supremo Food Markets announced their ongoing donation of groceries to be supplied to Perth Amboy families. The magnitude of this donation is estimated to be worth over $50,000. Supremo Supermarket owner, Eddie Trujillo, shared, “This is my home; this has been my home all my life,” said Trujillo, “And so, I love the City of Perth Amboy and when people need help, that’s when we all come together. It’s not only myself, many other people have been helping the community for many weeks now under this pandemic.” Trujillo mentioned the donation will total over 2,000 food boxes and will be delivered to the people in need within the community.

Mayor Wilda Diaz commended Trujillo, stating, “Eddie has always given back, without even being asked. He has supported our youth programs and he has provided so many dinners for people in need for a long time. Perth Amboy is blessed to receive this support from Eddie and his business partner, Benjamin.”

Knowing how important it is to give back to the community, Trujillo’s sons, EJ and Sebastian, have also been on-site preparing food boxes. The City of Perth Amboy received over one hundred calls just this week inquiring about food assistance and is thankful for everyone who is making these donations possible.

Residents of Perth Amboy have been in dire need of additional food assistance since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from Supremo Food Market’s donations, the City of Perth Amboy has been working with other community partners to help provide food for residents during this difficult time. The Perth Amboy Public Schools District continues to serve all Perth Amboy children with meals three days a week. Additionally, Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens have modified operations throughout the pandemic.
