Tossin’ for Mike

Cornhole Tournament & Fundraiser

SOUTH AMBOY – On Sunday, August 23, 2020, the Independence Engine and Hose Company of the South Amboy Fire Department will be hosting a benefit Cornhole tournament. One of our lifelong and most active members, Michael Coman, was recently diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer. Mike was a career firefighter for the Lyons VA Medical Center and retired as Deputy Chief. As a lifelong resident of South Amboy, he has volunteered with the fire department for over 37 years. He served throughout the ranks of several companies over that time attaining the position of Chief of the Department in 2003-2004. Mike is a NJ Certified EMT and a Level 2 Fire Instructor at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. He is also a married family man with two sons who have followed in their father’s footsteps and joined the South Amboy Fire Department.

We are asking our community and fellow brothers and sisters to help us with our efforts to support Mike and his family in their time of need. All funds raised from this day will go directly to Mike and his family to help cover their medical costs during his long battle ahead. Anything you can provide to help us make this day possible would be immensely appreciated.
