NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

and HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (HOME)

The City of Perth Amboy is planning for the 2020-2024 Five (5) Year Consolidated Plan as part of its application for funding to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) programs. These funds may be used to assist persons with low-to-moderate incomes, remove slums and blight, and/or address urgent needs in the City of Perth Amboy.

Two public hearings are being scheduled with community stakeholders/partners and City residents. Due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and following the social distancing guidelines, the public hearings will be via a phone and video conference.  

The first community meeting is for collaborating stakeholders/partners, by invitation only scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.

These hearings will assist the City in the preparation of the 2020-2024 Five (5) Year Consolidated Plan.  The hearings are designed to obtain views and to respond to questions.  Information will be made available regarding application procedures, timing, eligible activities and other regulations in relation to CDBG and HOME, focusing on the City’s housing and community development priorities: suitable living environment; provide decent affordable housing and create or expand economic opportunities.  These priorities will be reviewed and the public is encouraged to make written or verbal comments.

The draft of the 2020-2024 Five (5) Year Consolidated Plan will be prepared following the closing of pubic hearing meetings, to ensure resident participation is considered and will be made available on the City’s website www.perthamboynj.org upon completion. The draft plan will be available for a 5 days public access period adhering to HUD’s waiver that provides flexibilities for public participation due to the Coronavirus, COVID-19 Pandemic.  The previous five (5) year Consolidated Plan 2015-2019, as well as eligible activities and a comment section will be available on the City webpage leading up to the public hearings, starting on August 14, 2020.
