Why the Electoral College?

The Federalist Papers may explain the purpose of the Electoral College, an independent group that elects the President instead of Senators and Representatives. The English Parliament uses its representatives to select a government. Elsewhere elected representatives also select a government. Using independent electors may prevent some sort of influence that affects elections.

Suppose there is fraudulent voting in a district. This will only affect that district. Carrying over votes to other districts by a majority count can corrupt the results. Who wants that?

I recommend this change to the US Constitution: enhance the XXII Amendment to place an age limit of 66 on electing Presidents; ban the children, siblings, wife or ex-wife of any President from becoming President. This is a republic not a dynastic monarchy. What states have family successions for governor?

Re-election Announcement 

“Our property taxes have steadily increased. Our city has missed many opportunities to attract new businesses and more jobs. City Hall is plagued by dysfunction and turmoil. That is not fiscally responsible. Our residents should not allow such poor leadership to continue,” said Councilman Helmin Caba, a candidate for mayor in the Nov. 3 election.
