THE COMMUNITY VOICE: Letter to the Editor

Open on the Holidays

It is time once again to urge my fellow consumers to boycott those stores that choose to be open on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. You can bet that the CEOs, COOs, and upper management folks will be spending those days with their families and not at work!

Yet this: “Do as I say, not as I do,” syndrome is not exclusive to the retail industry. It manifests itself in governments, the judiciary, law enforcement, the military, and among various religious communities. One can also find patterns of this behavior in the bible!

Too often leaders don’t lead by example, they just boss! So please, stay home and spend time with your family during the cherished holidays. There will be plenty of time to shop on some other day. If companies didn’t make money, they’ll learn to stay closed!

Thank you,

The Honorable

Michael Rusznak
