It’s a shame Dave Szilagyi didn’t check his information with reliable people before he began his GRAND PRONOUNCMENTS. (‘Battle Royale’ Amboy Guardian Aug 1st). A quick check with any of the Legislatures, the City Administration, MOPA, etc. would have explained the status of the efforts to secure funding for the historic sites of Perth Amboy.
Yes, the State did open the ‘Royal Governor’s Mansion’ to the public on July 4th. They had every right to, just as they had every right to remove locks from the building for which they never were supplied duplicate keys for, a long-standing requirement. However, to say that the collections were ever in jeopardy is totally false. Two PHA trustees were on duty the entire time the house was open.
This fact fulfills the Association’s own requirements to secure the contents. I question why Dave feels he should be the spokesman for the Proprietary House Association? A check of the past records reveals that Dave has never been a paid member of this House.
