Pallone Calls for Swift Action on House Democrats’ Legislation to Help State and Local Governments

COVID-19 Relief Bill Would Provide $9.43 Billion For New Jersey State and Local Governments

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today issued the following statement on recently released estimates for state and local aid to New Jersey state and local governments. House Democrats’ proposed COVID-19 legislation would inject critical funding into these governments.

“State and local governments have been hit hard by this pandemic, facing devastating budget shortfalls that threaten vital day-to-day programs and the dedicated public servants who provide them. First responders, teachers, and public servants across our state are risking their lives to serve our communities. We cannot let state and local governments fall into bankruptcy as they provide our cities and towns with critical services. The COVID-19 relief package House Democrats are advancing is estimated to provide $9.43 billion to New Jersey state and local governments, including more than $280 million to Middlesex and Monmouth Counties and more than $150 million to municipalities in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District.”

The estimates for state and local aid in New Jersey include:

New Jersey State government: $6.48 billion

Local Governments: $2.95 billion

Middlesex County: $161 million

Monmouth County: $121 million

Asbury Park: $10 million

Edison: $14 million

Long Branch: $12 million

Middletown: $6 million

New Brunswick: $20 million

Old Bridge: $6 million

Perth Amboy: $15 million

Sayreville: $5 million

Woodbridge: $16 million

Aberdeen Township: $3.4 million

Allenhurst: $89,600

Atlantic Highlands: $797,500

Deal: $133,600

Hazlet: $3.6 million

Highlands: $881,213

Interlaken: $146,300

Keansburg: $1.8 million

Keyport: $1.3 million

Loch Arbour: $33,500

Marlboro: $7.4 million

Matawan: $1.6 million

Monmouth Beach: $596,500

Ocean Port: $1.1 million

Sea Bright: $252,000

Union Beach: $1 million

West Long Branch: $1.4 million

Carteret: $4.4 million

Highland Park: $2.6 million

Metuchen: $2.7 million
