NEW JERSEY (News Release) – The American Red Cross continues to help people in New Jersey facing the difficult task of picking up the pieces after the devastating flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
Trained Red Cross workers are supporting relief efforts by serving meals, distributing critical relief supplies, helping families plan their next steps and supporting those who are grieving loved ones. Red Cross teams are working closely with local officials to help assess the damage left behind and make recovery plans for the coming days and weeks.
Since September 1, 2021, the Red Cross New Jersey Region has:

Provided safe shelter with 734 overnight stays

Served 7,170 meals and snacks

Distributed 8,193 clean up kits and 5,350 emergency supplies such as rakes, tarps, shovels and gloves

Provided health and/or emotional support to 514 individuals

Activated 169 Red Cross disaster workers
Multi-agency resource centers (MARCs) will be opening in some areas to give residents the opportunity to learn about services available from a variety of organizations to help them rebuild their lives. Red Cross disaster recovery caseworkers will be staffing the following multi-agency resource centers the Red Cross is participating in this week:
- Rahway – Tuesday, 9/14/21, 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Community Center, 3 City Hall Plaza
- Manville – Thursday, 9/16/21, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Manville Public Library, 1,000 South 10th Avenue
- Lodi – Monday, 9/13/21, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Boys and Girls Club, 440 Passaic Avenue
- Lambertville – Wednesday, 9/15/21, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, location TBD
Recovering from a disaster can be a confusing process, and it’s not always easy for survivors to find the help they need. These resource centers will bring agencies such as FEMA, the Red Cross and other community organizations involved in recovery efforts together in one location.
