PERTH AMBOY – 8/10/15 Caucus Meeting – R-359 – Authorizing the City to submit applications and enter into agreements with the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development for 2015-2016 CDBG Funds and HOME funds in the amount of $820,791.00.

Annie Hindenlang – Exec. Dir. Office of Economic and Community Development Redevelopment Agency spoke about this Resolution: “This is for affordable housing units and also for the JRF (Jewish Renaissance Foundation dealing with the Boys Club). Some of the funds will be for Risk Factor Youths between the ages of 8 to 13 and the Board of Education will be involved in this.”

Councilman Fernando Gonzalez appreciated the work that  the JRF does with the Boys & Girls Club but he wondered, “Why isn’t the Board of Education funding this program? Ms. Hindenlang had stated earlier that only $40,000 would be used for this At Risk Program.” Gonzalez still thought that it should be financed through the Board of Education.
