Grant Awarded to the Raritan Bay Area YMCA

Designed to Help Perth Amboy Children 21st Century Community Learning Center

PERTH AMBOY – The RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA has been awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant from the New Jersey Department of Education. With this grant, the Raritan Bay Area YMCA is able to supply a comprehensive afterschool program for Middle School students in Perth Amboy.

This 21st Century Community Learning Center after school program; B3-Building Beyond Barriers, is offered free of charge for Middle-schoolers at William C. McGinnis and Samuel E. Shull Schools. The program runs Monday through Friday and will provide participants academic support such as homework help and tutoring, as well as hands-on enrichment activities. These activities range from photography, culinary arts, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The program also encourages parental involvement to ensure the student is supported every step of the way.

This project was funded in its entirety with the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by No Child Left Behind, Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant funds through a grant agreement with the New Jersey Department of Education.  At the Y, we’re dedicated to strengthening community by nurturing the potential of every child and teen.   We are thrilled to present this new program, it is truly an amazing opportunity for our children and for the community of Perth Amboy.
