Fire at Los Kenton Grocery Store, 752 State Street, Perth Amboy

PERTH AMBOY – There was a fire at the Los Kenton Grocery Store at 752 State St., Perth Amboy (corner of State and Chauncey Sts.).

PAFD Chief Abraham Pitre released the following statment: Fire was reported at 10:58 p.m.  Upon arrival an heavy volume of fire was encountered outside in the rear of the building extending both to 752 state and the church located at 760 State St. The fire had already extended into the first and second floors and was running up the void spaces in the walls to the third floor and roof. We had two minor firefighter injuries and no civilian injuries. We received assistance from Keasbey, Hopelawn, South Amboy, Sayreville, Fords, Edison fire departments. Units are remaining on scene throughout the day hitting hot spots and flare ups.
