Raritan Bay Area YMCA Announces New Volunteer Leadership

PERTH AMBOY – The RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA has announced Dr. Robert DePow as the new Chief Volunteer Officer. Dr. DePow has served as a board member at the Y for twenty-seven years. The Board of Volunteers has also selected a slate of new officers: Hector Motta, Vice CVO, Lou Seminski, Treasurer, and Linda Mazzella, Secretary.

Robert “Bob” DePow, Ph.D., a well-respected businessman, has served Perth Amboy in numerous roles in state and international organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, Concerts by the Bay, Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation, and the Special Improvement District and Urban Enterprise Zone, as well as a number of other volunteer boards. “I am proud of the hard work of a legion of dedicated YMCA donors, volunteers, members and staff that have made the Y such an integral part of the community,” DePow stated. “Together we are going to continue the fine traditions of the Y and expand into areas that were not even a dream just a few short years ago”.

Mr. Motta has been working in the banking and financial industry for 21 years, most recently with Investors Bank since 2011 as an Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager.

Mr. Seminski is an attorney at the Manhattan based law firm of Herrick Feinstein LLP. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, Lou remains committed to the city and its philanthropic endeavors. Lou is also active with Raritan Bay Medical Center, a significant partner with the Raritan Bay Area YMCA, serving on its Advisory Board.

Mrs. Mazzella has been working at Raritan Bay Medical Center since 2005, first as Community Outreach Coordinator and now as Director of Physician and Community Relations.

Steve Jobin, YMCA President/CEO stated, “The new officers are significantly involved with the strategic growth plan for the YMCA, including further development of programs and services at its primary facility and expansion of the Y’s footprint in the community through acquisition of real estate to aid the homeless as well as further expansion of the use of existing natural spaces such as the Perth Amboy waterfront…Driven by the Board’s vision, these Community Leaders are optimistic that the Raritan Bay Area YMCA is on the right path to setting forth a new legacy for future generations”.

The Board of Volunteers thank and commend Mr. Gregg Ficarra for his dynamic leadership as Chief Volunteer Officer for the past 8 years. Mr. Ficarra will continue to be an active member of the Board of Volunteers.
