The Homeless Heroes & Good Ol’ Fashion Police Work

Unless you were living under a rock, most people know about the explosions in Seaside Heights (thankfully there were no injuries), and then in the Chelsea section of Manhattan (where 29 people were injured) and then in Elizabeth (where devices were found and blown up by the proper authorities.)

We had written a prior editorial about, “If you see something – say something!”

We are praising the two homeless men in Elizabeth who discovered a backpack with a pressure cooker with wiring inside of it. They had the common sense to report it to the Elizabeth Police Department.

Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage credited these two homeless men for saving lives and we could not agree more.

Often when people are recognized for doing a heroic deed are for some kind of community service, they are recognized by the local government with a citation or plaque.

Here are a couple of suggestions: Perhaps the two men can be given a place to live for a year and assistance to get them back on their feet.

We would like to thank all of the Law Enforcement Agencies that worked together to capture the suspect in such a short time frame.

On local New Jersey Newscast, Retired Middlesex County Sheriff’s Officer Peter Piser was interviewed. He’s the one that said, “It’s ‘ole fashion police work that led to the arrest of Suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami in Elizabeth on Monday 9/19/16.

What makes this story even more chilling is when we were looking at a newscast about the arrest of Ahmad Khan Rahami, that they mentioned searching houses in Perth Amboy.

We wonder how long Rahami was planning these attacks and if his accomplices met in town to carry out future plans.

It has become increasingly popular by certain organizations to put down law enforcement, but  imagine what would it would be like without them. We would have anarchy.

Technology, experience and the communication between all levels of law enforcement is needed to combat what terrorists have at hand. Terrorists use technology that is mind-blowing and we wonder who in the world is behind supplying them with this and financing them.

We do have a lot of homegrown terrorists and now there are intentions of bringing in many more people into this country who we know will not be properly vetted.

Remember, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING! BETTER TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION!
