PERTH AMBOY – Supporting   R-124-3/17 – Assembly Bill A222 & R-125-3/17 – Senate Bill S2171 – New Jersey Library Construction Bond Acts.

Library Director Eleni Glykis made an impassioned plea to the Council on the importance of these two bills. “This is a $25 million obligation fund. 50% of the libraries are not ADA compliant and there are other shortcomings. Our library has the smallest square footage and the biggest population. We still are not ADA compliant. One of our employees, Vilma Novak, has indexed our entire historic data. We have been fortunate that Rutgers has also digitized some of our works.”

The Council voted unanimously to approve the Resolutions as part of the Consent Agenda. It was moved by Councilman Fernando Gonzalez and Seconded by Councilman Fernando Irizarry.
