EDITORIAL: Thanks/Giving

During the holiday season, many organizations come together to help feed and clothe the homeless and those less fortunate. But not all of those who come to partake in the feasting may be homeless.

Some who come are those who in need because of loneliness. Imagine having a roof over your head, enough food to survive and money to pay your bills, but no one there for companionship or to socialize with.

When the groups and organizations pictured above hold their holiday events, everyone is invited. There is no one standing outside the door asking to see a financial statement.

The Eddie and Brenda Trujillo Foundation Thanksgiving Feast held on November 23 fed 758 food pantry recipients. This is a great event for the community. It honors Eddie Trujillo’s parents.

Besides the Trujillo Foundation, the Knights of Columbus in Perth Amboy fed 1300; the Renovation House served over 600 at Olive Street and delivered 400 meals. At the Salvation Army in Perth Amboy Faith Fellowship Church from Sayreville served over 90 meals.

Special thanks to the organizations mentioned above and to other groups who give up their time and volunteer to help those to make the holidays special for those in need.
